Whats all the rave about tires being filled with Nitrogen?  When I took my car in on Thursday to get the fuel injectors cleaned, the guy mentioned if I wanted that done.  I have heard of it here and there, but never really looked into it.  Whats the deal with it?  Does it stay in the tires longer than regular air, and is the fuel economy alot better?  It was like $8 a tire, but I wanted to see if anyone had it done yet before I tried it.  Just curious.

well oxygen causes oxidation. Oxidation can make rubber brittle and cause it to lose tensile strength. In addition, at high temperatures and pressures, oxygen reacts and damages inner tire liners and belt packages; nitrogen does not. and yes it does increase fuel economy proper tire pressure is a big deal and the advantage with the nitrogen is that it last longer and holds air longer in the tire which keeps ur recomended tire pressure set. u also benifit from it saftey wise because alot of blowouts are due to under inflated tires and nitrogen provides a more reliable pressure to decrease ur chance of a blowout. its really not about the nitrogen its about reducing oxegen water vapor and other gases.lol and by reducing these u maintain proper pressure..  Grin

Yeah man, thanks for the info.  I wanted to do it, but I wanted to get some information first.  Its really not that expensive, so I might go ahead and do it this Friday.
