Intake Manifold Cleaning

Anyone on here know where I can buy the I.V. Feeder type tool so that I can clean my throttlebody and intake manifold? I had my fuel injectors cleaned today at CityGarage, only because I had to wait for my doctors appt. across the street, but they wanted to charge me $150 to clean my intake manifold and throttlebody. I have found several cleaners to use, but most of them require that feeder so that it can drip the chemical a little at a time in the manifold. Anybody seen one somewhere? Oh, and how hard is to change out the rear main seal. They said it was leaking. I didn't see anything, but I'd rather be safe then sorry. The car has 77k miles on it. Thanks homies!!

what i normally do isnt near as sophisticated. i get a can of throttle body cleaner rev the car to about 3k rpm. spray the cleaner until its about to die. keep it revved to burn it all off. repeat 3 or 4 times. then ur done. clean as a whistle.

Yeah I saw the throttlebody cleaner too. Does smoke come out of the tailpipe to know that it is cleaning all that gunk in there man? That did seem easier to me also, but didn't know if it just cleaned the throttlebody, or if cleaned both including the intake manifold. I might try that instead. So I just make sure the car doesn't shut off, right?

yup simple as that. smoke does come out, but its only one indicator. youll notice a difference in idle and better throttle response. just do it about 6 times and you should be good. i do it once very 10k miles or so .

That is a bunch of bull, when they clean ur injectors with the injector cleaner it cleans everything, now what you need to do is what 1qwkpony said, with some throttle body cleaner spray it while running then after that turn car off and spray the inside of the throttle body and some on a clean rag, then wipe the inside of the throttle blade and around the inside of the throttle body. It will be hard to clean inside the intake manifold without taking it off, but if u must u can take the plenum off and spray the inside and clean it not hard at all. I've done quite a few of them. The injector cleaner is called OTC fuel injection system cleaner, but it cost like 200 bucks then you have to buy the fuel injection kit that has all the fittings and gauges.

try your best to stay away with any lint type cloth, get some berryman carb cleaner spray it in while someone revs a little, then get yourself some seafoam, let it in through the vaccum booster, some in your gas tank and some in your crank case, 1/3 each to be exact
change your oil after a few miles though...

Hey Mauri, is the car supposed to shut off when you detach the cold air intake from the throttlebody? Mine did on friday. I still cleaned the throttlebody and stuff, but I didn't know if it was supposed to do that.

OR you can do it the easy way and use your free hand to manipulate the throttle its literally right there. you can do this all yourself

I saw this one video on YouTube, and it explains everything pretty good, but I have a question. Did you guys have to change your oil right afterwards, or is it okay to drive until your next oil change. The dude on the video said he had to change his oil, but I just changed mine last week, and would hate to change it again so soon. Thanks! Here is the link;

Well I was able to clean the intake, and man was it dirty!! Now I just need to know whether I change out my oil again or not. I think that guy changed his out because he put SeaFoam in his intake, oil, and gas tank. What do you guys think? I can't believe CityGarage was gonna charge me $149 to do something so simple! But I guess they have to make their money somehow. Well guys, just let me know whether you think I should change the oil or not, and thanks a bunch for recommending that stuff! I am gonna have to invite all of you guys to my newborn baby's baptism party in the fall!

if you added some to the oil, yes you do with in the next 500 miles
if you didn't then just add it right before your next oil change
