Everytime I turn on the car, the speakers make a loud popping noise. Is this from the wires not being hooked up right? I took it to the guy that did the wiring and he said it was normal.  Undecided

It hurts my ears, and sounds tacky, so what is it?

Do you have an amp? If you do that is the cause.

usually caused by the amp...  but also could be the head unit. Do you hear the popping noise after turning on the ignition even if the head unit volume is turned down low?

pulled from the web....

Turn On/Off Thump
Turn on thump can vary from a slight pop to a mind shattering, teeth rattling BOOM! This thump is caused by the audio circuitry stabilizing when power is applied. Most amplifiers and source units have muting circuitry that lasts a couple of seconds to allow these fluctuations to subside before passing a signal. However, if the amplifier un-mutes before the source unit or any other accessory, you better watch out. Here are some things to try if you have turn on thump.

Verify that the amp has a good audio ground reference. (See rule 6 of the Ten Commandments of noise free installation.)
Don't install the system so the amplifiers can be switched on when the source unit is turned off.
If you still have thump, add a turn on delay module in line with the remote turn on wire to the amp.
This concludes the section on turn on thump.

that is a normal sound for these cars any aftermarket on 05-09 will do that sound  i know it didnt do it with the factory radio but it is due to the aftermarket powering up up the factory amp

no car should. regardless, usually a stock amp is bypassed when an aftermarket radio is installed, unless you have the wiring harness that hooks directly up to the stock amp.
in most cases this harness runs $50+

like i said this is normal i worked at ford i was the acc installer and yes they sell the harness and that sound is normal some radios do not offer a soft turn on for the amp  and thats why you get a pop noise sorry if you thought you were right

well, in this case, it seems to me the logical thing to do would be to bypass the amp. either way, unless you get the direct amp hook-up, you would have to bypass it. the signal wires wouldn't match up because on an aftermarket unit, the only singal wires that being output are to the speakers which are getting power through that wire. (unless, of course, you get a good deck and you get pre-outs) so if you run the signal wires to the amp, you'll be running a powered wire, to an amp that generates power. that makes perfect sense!

Seems like that would be in place on the hot side coming to the stereo to keep the voltage regulated when the car starts to prevent that "pop" of the speakers
